Being green, not doing green.

Aquifer thermal energy storage since 2002, CO₂-neutral production since 2010. We were early, and we measure what we do.

The short version.

CO₂-neutral production

Since 2010. In the market we are known as a green mailing house.

100% green electricity

From Dutch sun and wind.

Aquifer thermal energy storage

In our building on Einsteinweg: since 2002.

FSC or PEFC paper

We buy nothing else.

Cane sugar film

As our standard wrapping film: made from cane sugar instead of crude oil, and recyclable.

Made-to-measure boxes

The CartonWrap makes the right box for every order, with no surplus material.

Often it can be done without film

From a self-mailer or card to an envelope or a paper band.

Measured with the Milieubarometer

Not estimated.

Our building.

When we moved to Einsteinweg in IJsselstein in 2002, we chose aquifer thermal energy storage: we draw heat and cooling from the ground instead of from a boiler. That was still unusual at the time. The electricity we use is 100% green and comes from Dutch sun and wind. That is not a claim but a certificate: our supplier issues a green certificate for it every year, stating the source and the emissions, and those emissions are zero grams of CO₂ per kilowatt-hour. If you want to see it for your own reporting or for a tender, we will send it over.

The paper.

All the paper we print on carries FSC or PEFC certification. We simply buy nothing else.

Packaging

Why cane sugar film.

We wrap in cane sugar film as standard. That is a bio film: the raw material is cane sugar instead of crude oil. The film is recyclable and belongs with the plastic waste.

Cane sugar film is not biodegradable and therefore not compostable. We claim only what can be demonstrated: a plant-based raw material and recyclability.

Where film is not needed at all, we do not use it. A self-mailer or card goes out just as it is, and a brochure or magazine can go unwrapped too, with the address printed straight onto the cover. An envelope is just as good an alternative. And if something does have to go around it, there is still the paper band.

Less air, fewer boxes.

Our fully automatic packing machine, the CMC CartonWrap, makes a made-to-measure box for every order. Not a standard size with a pile of filler in it, but exactly what the product needs. That saves board, it saves filler, and because less air is transported it saves transport costs too.

Now in law as well

Since 12 August 2026 a European rule applies to this too: the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40. It stipulates that a shipping or e-commerce package may contain at most 50% empty space, with filler such as paper shreds, air cushions or bubble wrap counting as empty space. That requirement takes effect on 1 January 2030, or later if the accompanying European implementing act is not yet in place. We already meet the standard itself. Not because we have to, but because a made-to-measure box is simply better: a product packed snugly cannot shift, and so arrives in better shape.

What else the PPWR asks of you is set out in our information document "PPWR and your print work". Ask your contact for a copy.

Smart bundling saves journeys.

Because we mail for many clients at once, we can bundle consignments and choose the cheapest route. That is not only cheaper for you. It also simply means fewer transport movements than when everyone arranges it separately. Fewer journeys for the same amount of mail, and therefore fewer emissions.

How we measure it.

We measure our impact with the Milieubarometer, the Dutch environmental barometer. Every year we map our energy use, our material use and our transport kilometres. Our footprint is established from that. Not an estimate after the fact, but figures we steer on, and which you can simply look at.
